We are moving into a thrilling new season! I believe it with all my heart. And the more I’m around today’s prophets—the men and women who have proven through the years that they hear directly from the throne room—the more I am convinced that we are moving into a season of God’s favor that will be unlike anything we’ve ever experienced.
He has given you and me this thrilling promise: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2). That promise grows more crucial as every day passes!
That verse from God’s Word is as true as the moment John, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, penned each word near the end of the first century. Only through the Holy Ghost could John have known how absolutely critical that passage would be in the future, especially today when people live under economic pressures that would have boggled the minds of those who lived 25, 50, or 100 years ago.
Above All Things
Isn’t it amazing how John wrote, “I wish above all things,” then he specifically focused on prosperity and healing, then pointed to the fact that when the soul prospers, everything else falls in line!
How wonderful it is that we also have this promise: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Ephesians 3:20).
God is able, and He is concerned about every area of life, including finances!
God’s Seasons
“The purpose of seasons is to birth growth! Changes will come. Either we will understand and change with each new season, or we will be a victim of those seasons.
Eight Powerful Keys to a New Season of God’s Favor
Seasons are ordained by the Lord. God takes us through new seasons for us to grow as we move into new revelation. He wants us to move into fresh insight.
We are told, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:18-19).
You may feel as if you are in a desert or a dry place, and you may be struggling with challenges that are literally overwhelming, but regardless of where you are, God wants to birth something new in your life. He desires to move you into a “new thing”!
Here are eight keys to make your new season become a reality and your tomorrow be different from your today:
- Embrace the Bible as absolute truth.
Without obedience, you cannot connect to God’s plan for your life. To be obedient, your life must be founded on His Word. There are divine moments on God’s calendar. Time is everyone’s enemy, but timing can be your best friend. People who understand supernatural timing must come back to the Bible.
We have such a famine today, even among believers, of the knowledge of God’s Word. He has given us 1,189 chapters, 800,000 words, 66 books written by 40 Holy Spirit–inspired authors. It’s the best-selling book of all time. And if you want to move into God’s favor and fresh seasons, it is imperative that you embrace His Word as truth.
His instructions are recorded throughout the Bible. You can document your faith. You can build your life upon every precept. You can discover what God wants to say to you!
- Obey God’s instructions.
Sometimes His directions are illogical to the human mind, but sometimes we forget that the purpose of an instruction is to differentiate you from everyone else. The Bible says, “Without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
Without faith, you can’t please Him. With faith, God is moved and rewards those who seek obey Him.
Throughout the Bible we find instructions that seemed so illogical. It was unthinkable for the children of Israel to march around Jericho for seven days as they did. Yet look at the results.
It was illogical for Jesus to spit on the ground, then put wet clay on the blind man’s eyes. Can you imagine what the people thought when the blind man was told to walk some distance to the Pool of Siloam to wash?
When God gives you an instruction, logic is not required, because God wants to be trusted.
The proof of your faith is obedience, and obedience to His directions, even illogical ones, brings new favor!
- Nurture and protect your mind and body.
Your mind is a garden. It can be fragile at times. You decide what grows in it. You renew it by reading God’s Word. Only then can you be protected from the wrong things that can hurt and ultimately destroy you.You can’t stop thoughts from approaching you, but the wrong kind of thoughts don’t have jurisdiction on earth. We are called to spend time with Him, to understand His thoughts, and to be renewed daily.
We are to nurture and protect not only the mind but also the body. We must look after ourselves, eat the right foods, get proper exercise, and seek understanding of God’s nutrition and wholeness.
It takes effort to nurture ourselves, but if the body collapses, we will not be able to fulfill God’s will in our life and enter this new season with a vitality and energy the He desires for us. This is a powerful key!
- Forgive others.
You’ve been wronged before, probably many times. People have offended you. That happens all the time. But you have to release the offense or it will become bitterness, which will destroy you.In Matthew 18, Jesus was asked how many times we should forgive. He answered, “Seventy times seven.” Of course by that He meant that forgiveness should be endless.
In the Lord’s Prayer, we were told, “If ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:14-15).
If Jesus was willing to hang on a cross and give up His life so our sins could be forgiven, how can we think that we have a right to harbor unforgiveness?
Even as you struggle with forgiving others, it is your act of faith that releases healing and allows you to move into a new season.
Let go of that offense!
- Speak the right things.
We are instructed to “decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways” (Job 22:28).Solomon, the richest man who ever lived, taught this principle: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21).
Your words are powerful! Yes, faith resides in your spirit, but your words ignite your faith. Speak the right things! Stop saying that God doesn’t care about you, that He’s not going to turn your business around.
Start saying, “I can do all things through Christ! By His stripes I am healed! God has commanded blessings on me and my loved ones!”
Get back into the Word of God and begin to speak what God says. Stop saying what you are seeing and start saying what God is saying! It will usher you into a new season of His favor!
- Grow and build your faith.
The purpose of the Gospel is to grow and build your faith. God isn’t moved by your need but by your faith.Job had many needs, but it was his faith that turned everything around to the point that we read, “The Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before” (Job 42:10).
You cultivate your faith through the Word of God. The Bible is the factory for faith. Faith happens when you hear God talk through His Word. Faith grows inside you because God favors faith.
Faith means confidence and trust. When you are filled with a growing faith, even when the doctors give a bad report, you have confidence God can turn it around. When you are strapped financially, you trust Him to change your life and provide you with an endless supply of financial blessings.
That season is coming! It doesn’t take God long to do something big when the time is right. Expectation is the breeding ground for miracles.
- Practice God’s divine laws, including the law of seedtime and harvest.
The greatest principle on the earth that changed my life is the fact that seeds, whatever kind they are, bring a harvest. Everything in your life is a seed—your thoughts, time, your words, even a smile. It’s never an option that you are sowing seeds, for everyone does this all the time. What’s important is what you sow, where you sow, and how much you sow.
The principle in God’s Word is clear: “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease” (Genesis 8:22). Something you possess can create anything you’ve been promised, and when you let go of what’s in your hands, God will let go of what’s in His hand.
When you let go of something you wanted to keep, God lets go of something He wants to give to you.
We serve a God who can turn everything around. He has an endless supply of financial blessings if we are just willing to step into His favor!
- Make God your financial Partner.
If you are a believer, you are in covenant with Jehovah Jireh, the Provider. He wants to be your total Source of supply.Focus on Him. Set your affections on Him. Jesus promised, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
Remember, God’s seasons truly matter, and moving into this life-changing season will require action. Planting an extraordinary seed always comes before an extraordinary harvest.
